maura: Today a video that sets out to “prove” that Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” and Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” and Miley Cyrus’ “Permanent December” are “the same song” made the rounds, and as you can imagine, it got a lot of pickup from people who like getting all OMG [INSERT LOATHED ARTIST HERE] IS SUCH A RIPOFF SUCK ARTIST. What I don’t get is why the rhetoric surrounding the video has turned into...

desnoise: I miss this blog. Anybody know what happened to this photographer? He was taking photos of Juggalos before everybody was taking photos of Juggalos.

now i am on a park bench outside my office on my lunch break listening to Master of Reality by Black Sabbath because yesterday i started reading John Darnielle’s 33 1/3 book about the record. the book is actually a diary told from the perspective of a teenager in a mental asylum in 1985 and he’s… If anything, I’d say Ozzy and company have a lot more to do with Gibbs than Rick...

nosdnuos: brandon4serious: Oh gee, thanks. Correction: Reducing your more complex and informed politics into sloganeering made popular by rap records. As is often the case, this devolved into a big dumb rap blog pissing contest almost immediately, but my point remains: Stop with the pithy, solemn loaded political statements, no matter who you are. It’s just a bad look. SM commenting on Grant’s...

Problem World: The Absolute Nadir of Post-War... →
Hmm…at least a few of these movies are solid movies. Judge Dredd is one of the best comics adaptations ever, people just hate on it. Mortal Kombat is a classic in its genre and like as close as any fighting movie is gonna get to you know, the great fighting movies of the 70s or 80s. Waterworld rules. Meteor Man doesn’t really fit in here, but that’s just a great like, 90’s...
